11 New Soccer Fields Planned for Lake Township: What We Know About the Midway Soccer Complex

October 21, 2026 | Lake Township, Ohio

Big things are in the works for youth soccer in Lake Township! ⚽

If you've driven down Midway Street in Uniontown lately, you may have noticed construction activity in the area. With plans for a brand-new soccer complex moving forward, it's natural to wonder whether that work is connected to the project.

I recently reached out to Lake Township officials, who confirmed that the North Canton Soccer Club's new soccer complex is moving forward!

However, there's one important distinction: the township is also developing a storage building for its road department, and I haven't confirmed whether the construction activity currently visible along Midway Street is related to the soccer complex.

So, what exactly is planned for this new facility? Let's take a look!

A New 25-Acre Soccer Complex in Lake Township

The North Canton Soccer Club is leading plans to develop approximately 25 acres along Midway Street into a large youth soccer facility.

The project has been in the planning stages for some time, with Lake Township officials discussing the potential benefits of additional recreational fields for the community.

According to the North Canton Soccer Club's project updates, the township approved a lease for the property in April 2026, and the club has reported securing the necessary permits and approvals to begin construction.

The proposed complex would provide significantly more space for youth soccer programs, practices and games.

What Will the New Soccer Complex Include?

According to the project's site rendering, the Midway Soccer Complex is planned to feature 11 soccer fields of varying sizes.

The proposed layout includes:

• 2 full-size soccer fields

• 2 nine-versus-nine (9v9) fields

• 3 seven-versus-seven (7v7) fields

• 4 mini soccer fields

In addition to the fields, plans show multiple parking areas, a pavilion, concessions and community green space.

The variety of field sizes would allow the facility to accommodate different age groups and formats of youth soccer.

The site rendering provides a look at the proposed layout, although individual features could change as the project progresses.

When Will the Midway Soccer Complex Open?

According to the North Canton Soccer Club's September 24, 2026 project update, the organization is targeting spring 2028 for soccer play at the new facility.

The club has identified Cavanaugh Building as its development contractor and has been working to secure funding for construction.

While activity is visible in the Midway Street area, the exact nature of that work has not yet been confirmed.

The spring 2028 timeline remains a target rather than a guaranteed opening date.

Will Lake Youth Soccer Use the New Fields?

This is one of the biggest questions for families in Hartville and Lake Township.

Although North Canton Soccer Club is leading the project, Lake Youth Soccer was specifically mentioned during earlier township discussions about potential partnerships.

At the December 8, 2025 Lake Township Trustees meeting, officials discussed bringing together multiple organizations, including Lake Youth Soccer, North Canton Soccer Club, Lake Local Schools and North Canton City Schools, to explore opportunities for shared recreational facilities.

The trustees approved a resolution to begin those discussions.

However, I haven't found public confirmation of a formal agreement allowing Lake Youth Soccer to use the new complex.

That doesn't mean it won't happen. It simply means shared use hasn't been publicly confirmed.

For Lake Township families whose children participate in youth soccer, this will be an important detail to watch as the project develops.

Why This Project Matters to Lake Township Families

Youth sports play an important role in communities like Hartville, Uniontown and Lake Township.

A facility with 11 soccer fields could provide additional opportunities for practices, games and youth sports programming.

The project could also bring more families and visitors into the area for soccer activities.

For local residents, the biggest questions will likely involve field access, traffic, parking and how the facility will be used by different organizations.

Those details will become clearer as the project progresses.

What's Next for the Midway Soccer Complex?

With the township lease approved, the project moving forward and a spring 2028 target for soccer play, the Midway Soccer Complex is an exciting development to follow.

I'll continue watching for updates on construction, the project timeline and whether Lake Youth Soccer will be able to use the new fields.

What do you think about the new soccer complex coming to Lake Township? Would you like to see Lake Youth Soccer have access to the facility?

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
