SARTA Is Teasing “Big News” for Hartville — Here’s What We Know

Something may be coming to Hartville, Ohio, and SARTA is creating a little mystery around it.

SARTA recently posted in a Hartville community Facebook group with a simple message:

“👋 Hi Hartville”

The accompanying graphic was even more intriguing: “BIG NEWS COMING SOON.”

So, what exactly is SARTA planning for Hartville?

For now, SARTA has not publicly announced what the news is, so anything beyond that would be speculation. But there is some background that makes the teaser particularly interesting.

SARTA Has Been Exploring Expanded Service in Stark County

Earlier in 2026, SARTA launched a new Destination-to-Destination, or D2D, transportation pilot in Canal Fulton.

The service allows eligible Canal Fulton residents to schedule shared, curb-to-curb transportation within Stark County.

When SARTA introduced the program, the agency indicated that the Canal Fulton service was a pilot and that it planned to evaluate the program during 2026 to determine whether this type of service could be introduced in other parts of Stark County, depending on available resources.

That makes SARTA's new Hartville teaser worth paying attention to.

Is SARTA D2D Coming to Hartville?

We don't know.

There has been no official announcement connecting the Hartville teaser to the Canal Fulton D2D program, so it's important not to assume that's what SARTA is planning.

The announcement could involve D2D, another form of transit service, or something entirely different.

What we do know is that SARTA chose to specifically address Hartville and tell the community that big news is coming.

Why This Could Matter for Hartville and Lake Township

Transportation options can be especially important in communities like Hartville and Lake Township, where residents may need to travel to Canton, North Canton and other parts of Stark County for work, healthcare, shopping and other services.

Depending on what SARTA announces, the news could potentially provide another transportation option for local residents.

For now, though, we'll have to wait for the official details.
